My only complaint (aside from privacy) is that it's still a bit buggy. Most notable is the predictive text feature that learns your speech patterns and behaviors.

I can literally "type" an entire paragraph within a few seconds. The stock iOS 8 keyboard has received some updates as well.

While the whole 3rd party keyboard thing concerns me a bit (I understand that Swype doesn't store my data unlike others), Swype works like a dream. SwiftKey is free and lets users work with multiple languages at the same time, so users can set it to use only Scots words, or words from both Scots and English.

I find myself typing a couple of letters and then looking up to see if my word is there. It's easy to get good with it.Īgree with you on the predictive text. Until that moment, however, typing 'zerg rush' turns into 'zero rush' by default, as you can see in the slideshow below, and a bunch of slang transforms into something completely out of whack, so you have to recheck and retype each message before hitting send. In my view it just goes to show how well Apple designed the standard iOS keyboard. Millions of users swear in its text prediction prowess, which adapts to your style with time, and there's barely a word you key in that would surprise the SwiftKey's algorithms. I suppose it's ok for one-handed use now and then when your hands are otherwise full. Which makes it pointless to learn a new paradigm. Even if there is promise of texting speed improvement, will it really be *that* much faster? I don't think so. Appears to be terrible with longer words. Frankly, the only improvement I really need is a smarter autocorrect. I'm willing to spend more time with it, but it's just so much more comfy to type on the standard iOS keyboard with autocorrect. Your attention is drawn in two directions, slowing you down. Rejoice, long-time iOS users, for you can finally throw off the shackles of the native Apple keyboard cursing its erratic.

Predictive Text is an annoyance when you're *already* fast as hell. SwiftKey’s Predictive Keyboard App Is A Free Download On iOS.

The main reason why Im using an Android tablet, rather than a Windows tablet is because typing on a Windows tablet is too much of a chore without WordFlow or SwiftKey. Simply go to your devices settings and and scroll all of the way to the bottom and find ‘System’. The touch keyboard does have predictive text like WP8.1 which is very nice, but I do find myself longing for swipe on my Surface 3.
